We're going to expand on this Groove by adding the 1st two 16th notes (1e) and the last two 16th notes (&a) to the Rhythms included in the PDF Download. Our hand pattern will stay the same for now, playing a steady flow of 16th notes between the snare and hi-hat. This workout is a lot of fun and will really help you get use to accenting the snare on the "e" and "a" throughout the Groove.

Today’s lesson is going to take a look at what I call the Paradiddle Groove. We’ll create the groove by simply playing a steady flow of 16th notes as Paradiddles and then moving the right hand up to the hi-hat. After the hands get comfortable, we’ll practice playing a series of 1 bar rhythms from the download PDF on the kick drum to create several different Paradiddle Grooves.

The Drum Dial - Drum Tuning with a Visual - Product Review

by drumfreak on 08/02/2010 | 8,220 Views | 7 Comments

I've had a Drum Dial in my drum room for years, I love them.  It's always nice to check out your tension with a dial and see how you're drum is doing. It also gives you pretty accurate tuning.  These are my techniques and I will still tune the drum on the kit... minor tweaks or a complete retune.  Remember, Drop Tune, and Check out Bob Gatzen's Tuning Lessons on youtube https://DrummerConnection.com

Billy Ashbaugh: Fill Idea #1

by billy ashbaugh on 07/30/2010 | 5,449 Views | 11 Comments

In this lesson,  I’m going to share a fill idea that I’ve been asked about before by my students.  It’s a one beat sticking pattern that I picked up years ago. The sticking is like a 6 Stroke Roll but it’s phrased as 16th Note Triplets. This fill fits nicely in a lot of different musical settings. Enjoy!
