In today’s lesson we’re going to continue breaking up the rhythms between the kick and snare. Now, all quarter notes and last triplets only will be played on the snare and all first and last triplets will be played on the kick. Remember to concentrate on keeping a nice steady swing ride pattern with 2 and 4 on the hi-hat. Be sure to print the PDF download to get all 12 one bar patterns to practice. Enjoy!
Today’s lesson is going to add some more ghost notes to our hand pattern. These two tiny notes really help to propel the groove forward. Don’t forget to download the PDF file for the kick drum patterns to workout with. Enjoy!
This is the final version of adding ghost notes to our 1/2 Time Shuffle. Today we're going to add the middle triplet to beat 3. This can be a little tricky at first. Remember you have to still hit the back beat as a rim shot then quietly tap the ghost note immediately after. I recommend getting the hand pattern down first, before you try playing the kick drum patterns from the PDF download. This is my favorite version to play. Enjoy!
In today's lesson I'm going to break down and explain the Single Stroke Four rudiment. Enjoy!
Today's lesson is going to expand our concept of playing a short and steady flow of 16th note Triplets between the kick, snare and hi-hat. In this lesson, we'll expand our sticking to cover two beats of the groove. This pattern is getting a little busier so don't forget to use the PDF download to help you with the sticking.
Today's lesson takes a look at the basic Afro Cuban 6/8 groove. We're going to break this groove down by working on the hands first and then bringing in the kick drum to complete the groove. Anything involving triplets can be challenging and this groove is no exception. Don't forget to use the PDF download as a reference for the sticking. Enjoy!
For today's lesson we're going to expand on the Para Triplet sticking pattern and begin to explore this concept in a groove setting. This is a more advanced exercise so please remember to slow everything down when first digging into this stuff! Don't forget to download the PDF file to better help you work through this lesson. Enjoy!
For Part 3 it's time to dig into the middle triplet! These patterns can really be a challenge to get down so be patient and slow everything down in the beginning. Don't forget to download the PDF file for the Triplet Rhythms to play on the kick. Enjoy!
It’s time to add more ghost notes to our hand pattern! Today, we’re going to add the last triplet of beat three. This one tiny note really helps propel this groove forward. Don’t forget to download the PDF file and print it. Enjoy!
