For Part 1 we put together a Linear Groove that consists of a 3 beat sticking pattern that repeats to make a one bar groove. At the end of the lesson we worked on accenting every single hit on the snare drum. Today we’re going to begin accenting every 2 note combination within the groove. There are a total of 10. Today’s lesson will take a look at the first 5. Enjoy!
In Part 4, we’re going to look at the concept of playing two 16th notes back to back on the kick drum. We’re still keeping steady 8th’s on the hi-hat with 2 & 4 on the snare. The PDF download will provide you with 12 one bar grooves to practice. For anyone just getting into this concept, this is a great chop builder for your kick drum foot. Enjoy!
Today’s lesson will take a look at a rudiment called the Flam Paradiddle. I’ll break the sticking down and then show you a few ways to use it as a warm-up on the kit. Enjoy!
For todays groove concept, we’re going to keep the same hand pattern but now move the hi-hat part over to the Ride. After adding every & or upbeat on the hi-hat with your foot, it’s time to download the PDF file and start getting busy reading rhythms with the kick drum. This one can get challenging. Enjoy!
In this lesson I will break down and explain the Flamacue. Enjoy!
This 3 over 4 Linear Groove concept is great if you are just getting into this type of drumming. The groove has a 3 beat sticking pattern that repeats throughout the measure making it an easier way to introduce Linear style drumming. Enjoy!
In Part 2, we’re going to begin moving the accents around the kit several different ways to help build fill and solo ideas. Enjoy!

What's up Joseph! Enjoy this fun fill in that not only sounds cool, but facilitates a great start with Moeller Technique. For a wonderful analysis of the Moeller Techique, buy Jim Chapin's video "Speed Power Control Endurance". Thanks for watching www.mcmillanmusicschool.com
Today’s lesson will cover a great warm-up exercise involving the double stroke roll that helps develop fill and solo ideas. Enjoy!
It's time to expand even more on your 8th note grooves! In today’s lesson we’re going to practice moving both the kick & snare around within the groove catching the “e” and “a” while still keeping steady 8th notes on the hi-hat.
