Billy, whats the best way to seat a drum head? i have tried putting the tension rods on finger tight and then using my fist to push a little bit. And sometimes i go around the rim of the had and crack the glue. is that a band thing?

The crackling you hear when you're tightening down the head is completely normal. I would not recommend you go around the rim by hand and do this though. What I'll do is tighten down the head finger tight, then tune it up to a fairly high pitch and then push down on the center of the head. That's when you should hear the crackling. Hope this helps!

That's how I've always tuned. Basically i tune the head higher than what I ultimately want and then I push in the center as Mr. Ashbaugh said. I come up with great sound!
