well i'm a progressive metal player (with influences of jazz and funk thrown in) and lately, ive been trying to develop my blasting, without much avail. the speed is coming along, the problem is the execution and endurance (execution mainly on keeping the bass drum on the beat) any help?
also, ive noticed that when dealing with 16th note blast, i cant do them as well, but if i triplet it, im much cleaner. this is a concern of mine, any help with developing the 16th note blast?

CBS Control Before Speed. Try playing slower so that you understand the movement of each foot instead of just going for it as fast as you can and hoping for the best. Break it down and like remy_starwing said speed up gradually. Endurance just comes with practice, work at it and you'll get better. Can't wait to hear about your next evolution, YOU CAN DO IT!

Blast beats:
Check it man, before you want to just rush out and start on the Lamb of God or Imperananon patterns lemmie be the first to tell you man, slow it down just for a few minutes.
You have to deal with the Motley Crue and RATT kind of patterns you know?
Try doing your blasts at an 8/8 pattern, which is the same as a 4/4 or a 16/16 all the way up to 32/32, in technical terms no matter what you do.
As you are progressing through your 8/8 pattern, try every 4th measure progressing the beat and then retard your pattern slowly back to the 8/8 and then repeat.
This is a good way to concentrate on timing and placement and it will allow you to see what parts of the blast you may want to pause on, or Rest in technical terms, it is also a good way to multi-task your brain so you don't have to concentrate on the blast, because of the concentration toward progressing on the 4th.
Anyway, that is just a small little warm up for blasts, I have a few others, just lemmie know how it works!

Hey man. I had the same problem about a year about when I was in your exact same shoes. I used a metronome and a divine heresy cd. As lame as it sounds the click track will keep you on point and if you increase the clicks by 5 BPM each time it will get you where you want to go. The other thing a used to get the precision down was molar technique. Billy Ashbough probably has a video teaching this but if not, youtube is all over that stuff.
