Sabian cymbal breakdown

IMONGODHEAVY - Wed, 08/19/2009 - 07:50 | 585 views

Could someone please breakdown the Sabian HHX,HHX-Xtreme,AA,AAX,Vault series etc...I've been a Zildjian man my whole life but I am taking strong notice of the Sabian line in that they are creating some very unique and versatile cymbals that I really like. Thanks for your time.

Hmm this could turn out to be a rediculous long comment haha

Alright, here we go, I'm not much of a Sabian guy, but I have had a lot of experience playing them!

HHX - They are mostly dark sounding cymbals, ranging from medium thin to extremely thin in weights. They are very sensitive and very dynamic cymbals. Even by the touch you can make some much music out of them. The HHX Evolution series is a little bit more trashy version of the standard HHX, and they are kinda meant more for fusion/jazz. They are a little more thin, but the sound quality of the cymbals is one of a kind. The HHX extreme series is just the thicker, more durable version, more suited for rock or heavier applications.

AA - These cymbals are a much brighter sounding cymbal, similar to a vintage sound. They are ranging from medium weights, all the way to medium heavy. They can be suited for many types of music and they are pretty durable.

AAX - These are very very similar to Zildjian's A Custom series. They are a bright cymbal, but also very full-bodied. They have a beautiful brilliant finish and they hold up very well in most musical situations. I actually own a set of 14" AAX stage hats myself and they sound pretty good!

Vault Series - These are some of Sabians most unique cymbals as that was their goal with this series. They have a large range in sounds from super dark, to super bright, from long sustain to super dry a fast. If you want something that just has a different sound and is unique, try out the Vault series.

Hope this helps... If you need any more help with this, feel free to ask, i can explain anything you'd like! :]

Thanks bro, I appreciate the wisdom! Also, with the HHX-Xtreme line, was that particlar series focus based around the dark bite of the O-Zone only without the holes??

Yeah the HHX-Xtreme is just the HHX, just a bit thicker with more bite and volume, better suited for heavier applications
