I've been playing a set of Premier APK's for approx. 18 years. Love them. But I want a set for gigging and one for practice. Getting old and plan on leaving the Premier's at home. I'm looking at the Mapex Meridian Maple and the Tama Starclassic Performer B/B. Any advice.

I love the sound of the Tama Starclassic series. I would take Tama or ddrum kit over the Mapex. ddrum now owns the Tama factory which produced the Starclassic series so their drums are of the same quality and they have some really great people working for them. Gretsch is another company worth taking a look at.

That's why they call him the king. So true... definitely consider ddrum because they are making some pretty rad kits for super affordable prices right now. If money isn't an issue the extra bucks could definitely go for a starclassic kit, which aren't that much more expensive.
