I'm looking to get a Ludwig Supraphonic snare drum. I'd really prefer a mint vintage one (relatively cheap) and if I can't find one, I'll consider a new one. Does anyone know where I can find one of these drums for a decent price?
I've never been much on Ludwig or vintage drums. I just don't get into them. The Black Magic does look like a pretty sweet drum though, just not for me.

Have you ever setup a "Watch" on e-bay where you can get notified of new listings? You can keyword your watch and it will e-mail you... You never know, you could snag something really quick.

Hmm I want one really bad. At this point, even if it's a remake, I'll get it.

How about drum shows? The Chicago Vintage and Custom Drum Show (www.rebeats.com - held here in May) and the Hollywood Custom Drum Show (www.vintagedrumshow.com - held in Hollywood, CA in October) are great places to pick up equipment.
Plus you have the benefit of seeing the stuff first hand and possibly negotiating down - not bidding up - on the price.

Anyone? I'm looking to get one of these drums, but i can't find a vintage one at a decent enough price.

I still think eBay or Craigslist are the best place to start - but you have to be patient and check often. You might also check with local school band directors. Sometimes the replace older equipment.
You might also consider putting an ad in Not So Modern Drummer magazine. Lots of collectors read it.

Yeah they do look pretty sweet, but I have a feeling the price range of that sucker is like $5-700 depending on it's size.

Hmm that sucks, no sellers yet.. Perhaps you should hold on to try and play with the new Ludwig Black Magic?
"Ludwig’s Black Beauty Snare Drums have long been the optimal choice for the touring and recording drummer in need of volume, tonal clarity, and optimal snare response. As the originator of its Black Nickel-Over-Brass shell composition, Ludwig is proud to announce the introduction of new Black Magic Snare Drums. A classic formula for a more aggressive musical age, Black Magic snare drums share the same shell type with the Black Beauty, but with upgrades like matching Die-Cast hoops for increased volume, and Tube-Style lugs for maximum shell resonance."
I wonder what type of snares are on it?
Here's the Supraphonic:
