Hey guys,
I haven't been on in a while.
Here's my problem:
I currently have 7 mics to set up at almost every gig (6 drum, and 1 vocal). It actually requires 8 cables because I'm running my mic through a headphone monitor system. Not to mention the guitar cable used to plug the headphone box into the board.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to manage all of these CABLES!!?! I would like to streamline to cut down on setup time/effort. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

yeah I strongly suggest a snake from your mixer/preamps to your drum kit with nice, short XLR cables to keep it all tucked up and nice. That should keep your setup clean!

Since you don't specify how all the cables run to where, I'll presume you are snaking, like freak is stating. There is a really cool product on ebay, it's a velcro wrap-through tie-down, {works like a zip-tie, but just removes easy}, search for it, I used those to manage my electronic cables, they worked great!!!

You could get a Snake. I use these in the studio, I have two of them. It's a box sitting right next to my drumset with 20 inputs and a 50 foot cable leading into the sound booth. It bundles the cables together for you and gives you a much easier method of routing and running cables. And it's cheaper than buying XLR cables to extend your current ones. I bought my snake for like $250 from MusiciansFriend. I think that if I were to buy individual XLR cables to get that distance and then try to manage the wires, I would have spent well over $500. So check out a SNAKE!

Yeah a snake would work great, I remember when me and drumfreak installed two of them in his house! They keep things much cleaner!

Thats what my guitar player keeps saying. Damn guitar players!! I hate it when he's right. I guess I could use shorter cables from mics to snake and cut down on the untangling at the end, as well. Thanks guys!

Well that's always kinda hard because you need every cable to keep your rig funtioning, so i would just suggest using zip ties or those velcro wire organizers to keep your cables looking nice and tidy :]
