stickandstrum Says Kit Application?

Submitted On: Sunday, Oct 24, 2010 - 12:06 AM

I'm sure I'm not alone, but I'm having to go back and learn rudiments after playing drums for quite a few years. It's been rewarding and a lot of fun and the ratamacue (and variations) was an instant favorite. I would love to see a video or two with some drum set applications for this (and other rudiments).

It's so easy to get locked into a box and only use exercises and rudiments for warmups or practice. I enjoy seeing creative ways to use the sticking patterns that we already know. I'm looking forward to incorporating this ratamacue warmup, the single stroke seven, and other rudimental warmups into my daily practice routine. I always practice rudiments with quarter notes on either the bass drum or hi hat and for some reason it never occurred to me to keep eighth notes between my feet while working on rudiments. Thanks for the new practice workout!
