If you can't find the groove, get off the bus lol. Thanks for another lesson Billy! Sometimes the groove can be a hard thing to find in actuality.

I've always felt that depending on the energy of the song, that's the type of groove I'd end up playing. It may be a TOUCH ahead or behind, but very very little for the most part and kinda by accident. LOL I pretty much try to bury the click all the time but kinda naturally push if it's uptempo or if it's a laid back 6/8 blues, it lays back... This has always been one of those subtle yet and important "feel" subjects. Kinda tough cause it's unwritable. Nice job Billy

quick question...when your playing ahead of the beat, is your hihat still locking in with the click or does also play infront? keep up the good work dude!

Thanks!! To be completely honest, I just tried to concentrate on pushing mainly kick & snare hits but I'm sure I subconsciously ended up pushing the hi-hat a bit as well.
Thanks again for watching!

Great lesson. It's so important but so hard to explain. Once you get it there's no going back.

Brilliant lesson again Billy. I'm going to use this one with some of my students, although some of them are quite good at playing in front and behind the beat involuntarily!
