One mic I like for drum overheads is the Rode NT5. I think they are cheaper than the C1000 (around $250 for a matched pair) and still sound good. We used them at my school (I am soundtech) and I always loved their high frequency response. For sure that I prefer the 414, but, for my budget, I'll go for the NT5 when I assemble my home studio.
One quick tip about condenser microphones: big diaphragm = better dynamic, small diaphragm: better frequency response.
