This way over my head right now. I'm going on 60 and have been playing for years but only recently picked up a double kick pedal. I have to slow this one WAY down.
Old dog- New tricks.

Hey Billy,
Thanks for the lessons you explain and break everything down so well. I have got some inspiration for creating more ideas :) The days before the internet are gone 'where you could get stuck in a drumming rut'....not anymore! haha
Thanks heaps!

I like to warm up on something like a Double Bass Quintuplet Paraddidle... I'm an ascending drummer so I am starting with the Left Hand - Left Hand - Right Hand - Left Bass Drum - Right Bass Drum - Left Hand - Right Hand - Right Hand - Left Bass Drum - Right Bass Drum. Sounds great playing it fast :)

Your lessons are always so helpful. This one, too, will help me to add more elements to my playing. You broke it down and made it so easy.

Love this lesson...been messing around with this and the triplet fill exercises together all day. Threw in another triplet exercise I used to do before I started playin dbl kick. Kick on the 8ths and the tri-plet on the snare and working around the drums for 4 measures then reversing to R on 8th L-tri Kick-plet for another 4 then break down to seperate toms and snare repating the same template...sounded way cool...wish i could record!

Sweet! Sounds like a very cool idea. Too bad you don't have a way to record and post :(

Thanks Billy, this was awesome! Gregg is a big hero of mine, one I've met, super nice guy! He played it on the Buddy Rich memorial concert, loved it! Quick Q, I have difficulty associating my right hand and right foot when playing double bass, any good exercise ideas? One that springs to mind is 8th notes with RH & RF, LH on snare 2 & 4, for 2 bars, then add the LF in on the 16th upnotes. Any others? Cheers.

That sounds like a good one to me! When that gets comfortable, try to keep the 16th note flow going w/ your feet and the steady 8th's w/ your RH. Then you can start to work out the left hand by reading various patterns! You can try the PDF downloads from my "Understanding 16th's Pt.2 & 3" https://drummerconnection.com/category/drum-lessons/reading-music
Or, if that's to difficult to read, try the PDF for 8th notes! It will help associate your RH & RF do to the repetition involved in the exercise. You'll also get your reading chops up!! Have fun!
