Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage Nouveau Snare

bif mcdrumin - Thu, 11/05/2009 - 16:07 | 2,058 views

Just acquired a very nice Yamaha Stage Custom Nouveau snare in Fade Raven Black but I have a question,I've read a few articles regarding the composite lugs cracking after time and I'm wondering who has had this problem and to what degree.
I don't crank my snare heads beyond recognition so I'm hoping that I'm safe,it really is a great sounding snare and is super easy to tune.Any comments or opinions are greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi, I picked up Nouveau snare on Ebay, my second kit is a original Stage custom(long lugs)the composite plastic lugs are really prone to break in the case if handled to harshling, I got some spare from my local drum store, yeah he had some in stock!!! I'm using Ddrum 13x7 at the moment nice!

When I worked at GC we had some problems w/ the lugs cracking on certain kits of the Nouveau series which is why I would eventually replace them with metal lugs if it's not too expensive for you to order them. That's one reason I've NEVER been a fan of Yamaha and that particular series. Also, depending on what you need from the company it could take FOREVER for you to receive a product by mail, especially if it has to come from Japan. (if it's on back order forget about it) EVERY drum company has issues from time to time when it comes to providing quality customer service. Let's just face it...you can't make all of the people happy all of the time. More often than not, one person's great experience is another's nightmare, that's just how it is. Unfortunately with Yamaha being in Japan that just makes the nightmare even worse. One time a customer had to wait for almost 3 months just to receive some floor tom legs from the factory in Japan.Just take good care of your equipment and God forbid if something breaks and it's not in stock.
