ZeAaron - Sun, 06/21/2009 - 09:54

im in the market for new cymbals. right now im using sabian B8s on my kit, and Zildian zXts at the high school wear i play set in jazz band.

i love em both ya know? especially the zXt's. they have the bright, and heavy sound im lookin for, the perfect ping on the ride and the hats ahave a great chich.

but im lookin for new ones, and i kinda want to experience other brands of cymbals. so does anyone have any ideas as to what cymbals i should look into?

I am partial to Zildjian A's . I am always shopping for cymbals. I am very impressed with the new Zildjian K Hybrids. To me they are a happy medium between the A's and K's. For hats try out some 15 in A Customs. Best hats I have ever heard.

Hi there ZeAaron. I prefer and use a full set of Zildjian "A" Customs. They are about as good as you can get in my book if your pocket book will allow. Every time I am at the local music store, I will try out the other brands to find that I am really into the "A" Customs that I currently own. I also have an extensive collection of vintage Zildjian Platinums, which I pull out once in a while, but these are about as rare as hens teeth these days. Don't forget that vintage cymbals can improve with age like a fine wine and there are alot of them available still on sites like eBay and craigslist. Best of luck in your search!

i have never heard a better china than the MB10s, and the meduim crashes are so punchy! i love it, i think ive made my decision. byzance are a little too pricey right now, because im fifteen, but a good goal to upgrade too. thanks alot guys

There are all kinds of great cymbals on the market. I personally love the Byzance series from Meinl. They sound great, and most of the ride cymbals you get are crashable :] Good rock, and jazz cymbals! They are a bit pricy :]

do they sound entry level trash can liddy, or do they have a decent tone? do you own them?

They have amazing tone imo. Yes I do own them, they very durable, open up nicely. the only downfall might be the ride cymbal it tends to ring but then again it has a huge bell with an amazing ping. seriously for shelling out $240 you wont be dissappointed

but if you have the money the Meinl Bryzance cymbals far surpass the Zil A customs forsure =)

I agree, if I could afford them, I'd have a full kit of Byzance's :]
