About Drummerman43

Hi, my name is Stephen Wood and I was born in San Diego, California. Like most kids,I was really influenced by my parents music. I listened to anything from 50's and 60's, Motown, jazz, swing, to early Metal. I remember as a young child I would beat on pots and pans, the couch, pillows, my little sister...( just kidding ), just about anything I could get my hands on. I truly caught the drumming bug when, at the tender age of eight, I saw Led Zeppelin in concert. When I saw John Bonham play, I knew that was what I wanted to do. I started to take lessons with Will Parsons. He had played with some pretty well-known artists in the Southern California area and had regional success. He taught his students more then drumming; he taught us about the recording and business side as well. After three years or so of lessons, I seriously started auditioning in the local area. It didn't take long to land my first paying gig. Boy! That was exciting. After playing in numerous cover bands, I decided to join the Army. I didn't do much playing then but I got a group together and we played some gigs up and down the strip when we could. After a five and a half year stint in the 101St. Airborne Division ( The Screaming Eagles), I moved to Washington in 1991. Over the years, I've had the privilege to play with some of the best musicians around and have met many more that I'd like to play with some day. I am currently with The Brian Green Band and we are getting a positive response from clubs and patrons alike. We are getting more and more bookings and soon we should have a full calender before long. Later this year we plan to put out an all- original CD of rockin' country songs that fans are sure to enjoy. Well thanks for taking time to look at my site. ON- STAGE GEAR: Sonor Drums: 12", 13", 16", 22" Kick, 14"- 5.5" Snare. Ziljian Cymbals: 10" splash, 17", 18" Crashes, 22" Ride, 17" China.
