The Aquarian Super-Kick II bass drum head has been out for a while now, and people have yet to see any reviews on the product, so we will give you one!
Most people have heard or owned, or still own an Aquarian Super-Kick I bass drum head. This head is known for it's full rounded sound, with great focus all in the same head. But with every great thing, there seems to be a compromise. The head is single ply, and for some drummers, they just need a head they can really kick hard into without the beater saying hello to the inside of the bass drum. This is where Aquarian have worked to fix this problem, giving us the Super-Kick II.
The Aquarian Super-Kick II is the same exact technology of the Super-Kick I, now they make it in a two-ply head! Same muffling ring and everything with the strength and durability to play live and play hard. I recently switched out my Super-Kick I for a Super-Kick II, and have came to the realization that the two heads sound very similar being that the muffling ring around it is identical to the Super-Kick I. The only slight difference in sound was the attack. The two-ply Super-Kick II was harder on the attack, but it's all in personal preference on the sound you want. The head has a wide tuning range and can sound great on any-size bass drum. The durability of the Super-Kick II is outstanding because you can kick it hard and it holds up.
Overall, I definitely recommend any drummer to sit down and try the Super-Kick II. I also recommend the Super-Kick I, they are both great drum heads for all kinds of playing styles and music.

I have to try it out. Never played on one. Emads are what I usually get, but the Aquarian sounds like great choice too.

Aquarian also has a SKIII model as well. It is a coated single ply batter head with a large (about 6" dia for a 22" head) impact dot. I used to use a PS3 clear head, but had to use towels taped to the bottom 1/3 of the head to kill the overtones. I put the SKIII on about 6 months ago, and it kills. Punch/warmth/and no need for additional dampening. All I use now is what is on the batter, and 2-2"x6" felt strips on the reso head. Makes my 22x16 sound like a cannon. I'd love to hear the same combo on a 22x20 drum. If you like the punch of a single ply head, but are worried about the durability factor, give the SKIII (super kick 3) a try.

I was an endorser and Roy sent me a bunch of heads and that was ten years ago, I haven't been happy with any other head.
People think my bass is miced up and it is just the head !

I've been using the SKII head for over a year now with a regulator reso. No muffling needed! I go up against Marshalls every gig & my kick can always still be heard! Very durable & tunable also.

I just got it and I love it. I'm having a hard time getting a slight boomy sound from it though. any tips?
