Best starter pack (hats/crash/ride) for low $

This is the top thing on my Christmas list this year (a little late, eh?), and I want to make sure if this wish is granted, I'll get the best bang, or rather crash, for my buck. Any suggestions? Looking for something preferably under $300... better if under $225.

I would go with either the Sabian B8 or Meinl prepacks. You can find a variety of set ups within your budget and in my opinion sound better than ZBT's.

Normally, you should be purchasing your own cymbals, primarily because you need to listen to them in the store, making your decision based on your own feel (best augmentation for your kit, brightest response, etc.) but since you are getting these as a gift, I'd recommend just to stick with the big three: Paiste, Sabian, or Zildian (notice I listed Paiste first? :-) But I'm not biased or anything...)You should be able to find a decent pack from any of these at your dealer, they normally are at pretty good rates, primarily because they are meant to be starter sets.

It's not for sure that I'll get new cymbals, it's just for the wish list. I doubt I'll even receive any (money and such, you know), but I want to be specific just in case it happens.
I'm personally leaning towards Paiste PST 3s, even though they're sorta out of the price range. One of my favorite YouTube drummers used to integrate a PST 5 pack with his setup, and they sounded really great.
