Rick Gee's Jazz Jamm, Inc. is committed to bringing the best in quality jazz to the Tampa Bay area. It is their mission to promote and preserve live jazz, the only original American musical art form. Major efforts are geared towards providing opportunities to local jazz musicians allowing them to work and perfect their craft. By fulfilling this role, they hope to help educate all segments of the community, particularly the youth, in stressing the importance of jazz as part of our national heritage. At every opportunity Rick Gee's Jazz Jam is open to partner with other jazz associations and clubs to further their mission by benefiting the entire local community, as well as the surrounding areas. Recently Rick Gee’s Jazz Jamm and Robert D. Rehnke,M.D. to presented Keyboard Explosion last month in Tampa, FL.

"For the entire evening Capone demonstrated why he is called upon for drum support at gigs by swingmeisters like Drew and Drexler." Rick Gee
The event was a success as Drummer Connection member Don Capone laid down the rhythm for acclaimed jazz artists Richard Drexler and Kenny Drew Jr. as all were treated to a night of splendid jazz musicianship. The following excerpt is from the review article written by Rick himself about Don’s performance.
*As if that was not enough, drummer Capone took his journeyman talents
into a different stratosphere. For the entire evening Capone
demonstrated why he is called upon for drum support at gigs by
swingmeisters like Drew and Drexler. Capone on drums is capable of
swinging lightly or willing and able to push the soloists by copping an
appropriate Philly Joe Jones attitude throughout. He delighted not only
the audience with his stirring and interesting drum solo, but also his
compatriot musicians by keeping perfect time throughout the final driving
jam vehicle. At the finalé, as if a command had been given, the audience
began to stand and applaud. What else could they possibly do? I
overheard a gentleman at one table say to his friends “Surely, we must
owe more money for a concert such as this. These musicians gave us more
than two and a half concerts.” *
In addition to performing at various gigs throughout the Tampa area Don also teaches lessons on jazz drumming at his home. To schedule a lesson with Don please contact him here on our site or at http://doncapone.net/
