Link Logen now holds the NEW World Record for the longest drum solo. The previous record of 84hr was held by Arulanantham Suresh Joachim (Australia), from February 1-4, 2004 at the Magic Factory, Zurich, Switzerland. The event was held at The Margarita Factory in North Canton, OH where sources claim Link finished up around 2:45 am this morning. Although an exact time could not be confirmed we were told he did break the record by almost 1 full hour or more. An employee did mention Link wanted to press on until 12 noon, making it four straight days but he just couldn't quite make it. In doing so Link also held a fundraiser to benefit the Akron Children's Medical Center and the Black Hawks Youth Group.
Logen, the owner of Akron's Federation of Drums and Percussion, where he teaches group and private lessons, already holds two world records, he says. At the Double Bass Marathon in Akron in 2005, he played a bass drum with both feet 160 beats per minute for 14 hours and 38 minutes. In 2006 at the same event, he did the same thing but 432 beats per minute for 10 and a half hours. How long will the new record stand......who knows! You can view the article written by the Canton Rep here http://www.cantonrep.com/index.php?ID=418867&Category=9&subCategoryID=

drummer7 Says Vintage Drums
Submitted On: Wednesday, Jul 2, 2008 - 8:32 AM
I purchased a set of drums several years ago. However, just in the last week or so a friend of mine saw them, who is a big vintage drum guy, tells me that i may have something special. It is a Ludwig set(6 pc.) Based my little bit of research on the badges would indicate somewhere between 79-84.However, the serial number suggest appr. 1965.
Is there anyone out there who might have an idea of what they may be worth. Im not sure if its the orginal wraps or retro wraps. Its kind of a blue marble/psyco look. The drum sizes are 12",13",14",15",16" toms and 24" bass. Thanks for any help.
