Artimus Pyle - Lynyrd Skynyrd

From sold out stadiums to your local hole in the wall dive bar, it's rare to go out and see a band without hearing the all too familiar request of "play some Skynyrd!" We've all heard it before. Sometimes it comes from the back the room or the friend at your side…sometimes it's you! Most people just laugh about it as the band plays on, but what was it really like to be associated with these southern rock icons who've made a permanent mark on American culture and music as a whole? I had the chance to sit down with only one of two people left in the entire world who can still answer that question. A Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame drummer and true survivor, Artimus Pyle gives his insight and opinion on what has become of his life and the state of southern rock today.

In 2005 a collaboration of artists from around the globe set out to redefine the modern day recording process of how studio albums are created. By foregoing a more traditional approach Yael, accompanied with a cast of colorful and talented musicians decided to step "outside of the box" to see what happens when people just get together and start making music. The process developed into a whirlwind of innovative ideas encompassing a journey almost 4 years in the making…. The Lo ... more »

Since the band was formed in 1961 the Beach Boys have become a staple of American music culture. Although the lineups have changes throughout the years B ... more »

Stanton Moore has a love for New Orleans that runs deep down to the very core of who he is. Hannah Ford - Interview

Submitted by King on: Wednesday, Jan 6, 2010

The contraption known as the "trap set" or "drum kit" was developed out of necessity over 100 years ago and has since revolutionized the way we play drums. People of all ages, races, and creeds have made their contributions to perfect the instrument and how it's played. However, women who have found themselves underneath it's spotlight have been very few and far between. Some cultures have even viewed the drums as being "unladylike& ... more »

Jan Koster - Interview

Submitted by King on: Thursday, Dec 31, 2009

When playing drums the placement of your kit means everything. Not having your equipment properly set up and anchored can cause you to become distracted and really affect the outcome of your performance. Having to deal with kick drums and hardware sliding away from you has been a continuous problem even with the advancement of drum rugs. It seems everything with the drums has evolved except what we choose t ... more »

Another great interview...thanks Damian!!

seminole Says How cool was that!

Artimus was great, the band was great and all the birds that came from nowhere when he played "Freebird"... WOW! Truely a day to remember. Artimus has been through so much and yet still gives eveything he's got when he performs. A true legendary Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame artist and he proves it for every show with his actions before, after and during his shows. The fans love him and he loves the fans, I'm not sure who appreciates each other more but there was a lot of love and respect out there that day.

Thank you Artimus for a great day to remember!

John
