Artimus Pyle - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Artimus Pyle - Lynyrd Skynyrd

From sold out stadiums to your local hole in the wall dive bar, it's rare to go out and see a band without hearing the all too familiar request of "play some Skynyrd!" We've all heard it before. Sometimes it comes from the back the room or the friend at your side…sometimes it's you! Most people just laugh about it as the band plays on, but what was it really like to be associated with these southern rock icons who've made a permanent mark on American culture and music as a whole? I had the chance to sit down with only one of two people left in the entire world who can still answer that question. A Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame drummer and true survivor, Artimus Pyle gives his insight and opinion on what has become of his life and the state of southern rock today.

Morgan Rose - Sevendust Interview

Submitted by King on: Friday, Dec 11, 2009

There are bands who tour with groups like Creed, and there are bands who tour with groups like Slipknot, but none that can do both…unless of course you're Sevendust. Many bands within the metal music scene get trapped in the classic stereotype of being just "a bunch of noise," but Sevendust has always found that perfect mix of harmony vs. hostility - thus creating a sound that is truly unique in its own. Their chunky guitar riffs matched with aggressive, yet soulful lyri ... more »

Chad Sexton - 311 Interview

When music is your life and you're part of a band one key to success is possessing originality. Having that unique "sound" people can relate to is essential to obtain musical longevity in a world full of copy cat ensembles and one hit wonders. With each passing decade there are bands within all genres tying to fit a particular mold or formula for success -  adhering to certain principals which make it hard to distinguish one from the next. By combining a diverse mixture ... more »

seminole Says How cool was that!

Artimus was great, the band was great and all the birds that came from nowhere when he played "Freebird"... WOW! Truely a day to remember. Artimus has been through so much and yet still gives eveything he's got when he performs. A true legendary Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame artist and he proves it for every show with his actions before, after and during his shows. The fans love him and he loves the fans, I'm not sure who appreciates each other more but there was a lot of love and respect out there that day.

Thank you Artimus for a great day to remember!

John
