Hey Fellow Drumheads!

My name is Matt, I'm 38 and in the military. I've "had" drums for 5 years; however, I started taking formal lessons in November. Smart move! I was just spinning my wheels before! I started with the Pearl Forums then I bought myself a PDP FS set with double pedal and added a porkpie maple 13x7 snare. I also upgraded my cymbols. It gives me a little more motivation when I upgrade my equipment from time to time!! My music of choice is hard rock/metal and the first songs I've learned is Torn Down by Signs of Betrayal, and Already Over by Red. My influences are Scott Rockenfield (currently learning Eyes of a Stranger), Joey Jordison, Neal Peart, Danny Carey, and Jojo Mayer. My drum instructer is pretty cool too!!! My near term goals are to improve my foot coordination/timing, learn a couple of more songs, improve speed all around, learn some more rudiments, learn to play the highhat with my foot a lot better. My long term goal is to be a rock star!!! Keep learning, improving, and never give up!!! Peace!
