Good point.  Just get the gist of it - same feel, same accents, same duration - and make it your own.

If you REALLY need to get it note for note you might try pulling the tune in a program like Audacity, which will let you slow the tune down so you can sort it out a little at a time.  Slow is the way to go when you're trying to wrap your brain around something complicated.

Good luck with that. I asked Ray Luzier about that at a clinic and he said there is no solid concrete transcription of that intro. I can't remember what his name was but he told us who Alex's inspiration was for that beat. Ray told us while on tour he must have played that intro over 100 times and it was never the same way twice! I think it's just one of those things where as long as you have the basic structure of the pattern down it will sound good as long as you don't train wreck it. Problem is everyone expects you to play it note for note like on the album. Good luck!
