i have recently moved away to college and i am living in the dorms. its been a month now and i cant stand not have my drums here at college. im living in apartments next year and gotta have my set with me. What are some cheap (keep in mind, im in college) ways that i can soundproof my room as to not make any neighbors angry with my vibrations????

I'm in a similar situation. I've lived in apartments for years and spent the last few years in a townhouse. From what I've seen..a cheap, easy solution doesn't exist. Your best bet will be to muffle your drum set, consider different sticks, and find good hours to play. I currently use bundle sticks on an unmuffled kit and play during the day when everyone is work. I do a lot of work on my practice set (Ludwig P4 pad and Hanzenfutz) and get to the drums when I can. Other than that, try muffling with one of the many products out there or towels.
For an apartment, make sure that you are on the bottom floor. Even if you can muffle the drums your downstairs neighbors will be able to hear the bass drum stomp. My wife had a guy with an electric kit above her and the thumping was unbearable. (He thought he was practicing 'silently'.)
Luckily I get up to church a few times a week where I teach and get some good practice/play time in. It's hard to find a good place to really let loose. Even when I'm home and my neighbors are gone I'm still self-conscious about how loud the drums are and it definitely effects my technique. It's hard to find a good place to practice drums..
