Big Bear City, Calif., -- Exodus Cymbals is a relatively new cymbal company that has grown quickly, in part to the use of an unusual alloy in its products. This has helped the company gain a foothold in the Latin American market and position itself to sell its diverse line of cymbals in North America.
A Unique Approach
Cymbals are made of bronze, primarily a mixture of tin and copper. Many cymbals are sold with a letter and number after the product name, such as B8 or B20. This refers to the percentage of copper in the bronze mixture. The bronze is heated, shaped, and hammered into a final cymbal shape. What is unique is that Exodus builds its hand-hammered cymbals of Bronze 25 (25% tin, 75% copper). Though B25 bronze is sometimes used in cymbals and guitar strings it is unusual to find it in an entire cymbal line. Most Turkish-style cymbals are made of a B20 mixture. Exodus blends the copper and tin at its foundry in Turkey.
“As a result of our process, we are changing the meaning of sound,” noted Carlos Skinfill, CEO and founder of Exodus Cymbals, Inc.” “This puts us in a great position to build our presence in the North American cymbal market.” To support the company’s growth in North America, Skinfill said, Exodus Cymbals will attend Winter NAMM (North American Musical Merchandisers) Expo in 2013
“We are ready and confident that we can expand quickly in North America,” said Skinfill. “Our success in other markets reinforces our approach to cymbal making and marketing. “
Another key factor in the company's growth is their direct selling process. “We like to be involved in everything and pride ourselves in strong communication with our customers,” Skinfill said. “Our customer service is very proactive and quick to respond to anything related to our products and Artist Relations since we support what I call "New Blood Talent."
Additionally, Exodus relies on social networking to build its brand as well. According to Facebook, the company is now the most “Liked” independent cymbal maker, recently passing brands such as Meinl, Paiste and Istanbul.
