ok so lately ive been doing alot of recording with my ZOOM Q3 and overall been happy with the product but seems like if I lay any audio with it in acid it just loses the kick and lower tones. now I have tooled it at times where one can hear the kick but the drum track is so loud compared to the rest of the track it just doesnt sound right at all. so I have decided that i would mic the kick and snare and been looking for a decent set of mics. ive talked with Bart from Sweetwater and he has mentioned using Shure Premium Dyn Kick Drum Mic which is a $170 mic. now keep in mind im doing this more for home use than professional. I have also decided to go with the ZOOM R16 board because for the money it is just a great peice from the looks and sounds of it. not heard one bad review on it. also plan on using a 57 of the snare.

Try the Audix D6 for your kick and the Audix i5 for snare. Both are fantastic!

AGREED. D6 FOR KICK AS IT IS VERSITAL AND EQ'D RIGHT FROM BOX. EASY TO TAKE OUT LOW END THAN TO ADD IF YOUR GEAR DOESNT ALLOW. YOULL BE HAPPY. ON THE SNARE NOTE HOWEVER, I WOULD SAY A SM57 AND HERE IS WHY. 1. GUITAR CENTER SELLS THE USED FOR 49 BUCKS 2. THE ARE BULLETPROOF 3. GREAT FOR THE POP THAT IS UNIVERSAL AND IF YOU MOD IT BY REMOVING THE TRANSFORMER, THEY ARE EQUAL TO THE I5 IN THE HIGH END RANGE OF EQ. HOPE THIS HELPS. EITHER SNARE EAQUALLY GOOD, I JUST USE SM57'S ON THE ROAD AND VERY DURABLE AND CONSISTANT, AND CHEAP.
