Okay, so I have had these mapex pedals for a few years now, and I really dislike them. No matter how much I try to fine tune them, the pedals themselves still sit too low, and they just don't feel right.
Granted, that I'm not great at double bass techniques, these pedals just don't feel right, So I'm considering selling them, and getting some new ones.
I've been looking at the Axis longboard ones, but I'm wondering if anyone else knows of any decent longboard style double pedals for a good price?

I'd go with the Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive. They are awesome and adjustable footboard length.

I use the Pearl Demons and frankly, after playing both Axis and Trick...I dont find any difference in them as far as smoothness and speed. The Pearls are nicely constructed pedals and parts are easily available from Pearl. Trick parts are a bit pricey and sometimes hard to find. Not sure about Axis. The Demons are selling online for 649.99 at several of the major online music outlets and remember, these companies give you at least 30 days, some give you 45 days of use...if you dont like em...call em up and get the return order number and send em back...it ends up costing you freight.
I love mine and I play 10 to 12 gigs a month, 12 months a year.

At this point, if you want to get a longboard style double pedal, their aren't many cheap options. As far as longboards go, there are 3 options that I know of.
1. Axis
2. Trick Dominator/Pro 1-V/Bigfoot
3. Pearl Demon Drive
Axis has pedals which cost from 600-800 dollars, depending on where you buy them from. These are the preferred pedals of many metal drummers, and they are insanely smooth and light, and have tons of adjustments. But they are pricey.
Trick has the three pedals mentioned above which usually cost from 700-800 dollars, very pricey, and same, if not better quality than Axis. They do have millions of possible adjustments, and are probably the most versatile among longboard pedals
The Pearl Demon Drives are the cheapest among the longboard pedals, retailing from 600-700 dollars in any music store, even though the MSRP is about 1000 dollars. These pedals can be converted to shortboards or longboards by removing a couple of screws in the foot plates. They also have quite a few other adjustments.
So if you're looking for a budget longboard, get Demon Drives, and you get both longboard and shortboard style pedals.
If you want the best quality, go for Trick. For a balance between price and quality, get Axis.

By the way I have size 13 feet, so that might be why I don't like them lol. That's part of the reason I was leaning towards the longboards.
Also the MSRP on the axis ones are about 800 dollars which I can't afford, so just wondering if anyone knows what's out there.
