Good Cheap Double Bass

utmbarto - Fri, 02/19/2010 - 18:09 | 4,868 views

Hey hey people I've been wanting a double pedal forever now and I've been looking at some but they're all way over my price range. Everything I've seen is about $200-$500. Is there anything out there thats going to run me about...$100ish that would still be somewhat quality?

I would check out some PDP pedals. they're pretty good and aren't that expensive.

There is a few out there you can consider. Tama Iron Cobra Jr., Pearl P902, Pearl P122TW, DW 3002, DW 2002. I'd avoid any of the Sound Percussion double pedals. I owned one and although it was great, one of two things will happen. 1) You find out after a couple of months that you are going faster and the pedal can't keep up. OR 2) The pedal breaks on you, especially if you put some force behind each kick. Mine broke on me within a couple of months but it does still work, although with the beater at odd angles and plenty of unwanted movement. Invest some money into your pedals, they will take a brutal beating and you want them to last. They aren't cheap and easily replaceable, so invest a good amount into them. You don't want them breaking or falling apart in a couple of months and have to replace them again. Spend money now, and save in the long run, but ONLY if you know you will stick to double bass. If you are just testing the waters, any of the above choices will work.

I got the sound percussion double pedal and it is a really great pedal for the price. It costed a little under 100$ and it came with a free drop clutch. Well worth it.

Hey guys thanks for all the help. I've had to put everything on hold for a bit because I've been doing alot of guitar work lately but I am back on my search. Long and McQuade has DW3000's for sale for $185 starting June the 1st so I'm thinking about getting that. I havent gotten to test drive them yet but a couple of guys that were shopping swore by them.

Check out Cannon brand pedals. There nothing fancy but they are well built. They are also priced right.

i agree. spend the time to find on ebay or craigslist a set of iron cobras, dw7000/5000, pearl, or yamahas and even if you need to ship you should have a buck fitty in them and not need to settle on something. i settled a while ago, then settled again, and now got what i really wanted anyway and when through 3 pedals to do so. the other ones "will do", but take my word, you will need to find something else soon after. all the highline brands pedals are bullet proof and can have parts replaced. the 100-150 buck pedals new are china knock offs and you wont be happy after 3-6 months playing on them when the develope slack and or a click from infierior joints. I.M.O. anyway. good luck to you....keith

I'd check out E-Bay... I found some pretty good deals on some pedals there myself... Use the product sites to find the pedal you want thats around 100 bucks, maybe 150 then go to Ebay and you can usually find it a decent amount cheaper... Worth a shot
