just letting you all know i made a decision to try some I.C.s a couple weeks ago as my student kits pedals were clapped out and i felt bad. they were back-ups to my back-ups really. i used and was totally happy with my dw700 pedals i bought on the road due to a pdp failure before a show in nashville, and upgraded to delta higes (a MUST HAVE for all that do not have 5000/8000/or 9000 pedals BTW) and they were great no issues. i just wanted to either try something different for me or get a cheaper set for the student kit. Axis was out as they are not a practical pedal for anything but blastbeats and 200+ bpms. i do play all genres here although my main band is in metal/hardcore. i need something with feel. i told the great people at forks in knoxvegas what i was thinking and they had a floor model sold to me for something i could not refuse. no d6 bought this time. i spent 20 minutes setting these up by eye to how i like things and WHAMMO! instant amazement. really, AMAZED!!! i cound not believe how fast AND slow these pedals are. yes slow. like most, its easy to play with momentum. its not easy to play things slower. these are sooooo smooth and precise and still feel correct. they are the fastest pedal i have played too while still feeling like a pedal and not a switch(axis). if you are looking for any reason whatsoever to change, trade, buy, or steal another set of pedals,(please dont steal...), this is it. Iron Cobras man, all the way. im sold and i am NOT a tama fan or was even thinking about playing them. i listened to some of you and made a decision to at least try them. HOWEVER, i should add that if you actually play drums and dont trigger(NOT that its bad, just most people rely on it for ALL there sound), CHANGE BEATERS!. i was lucky enough to deal with the best people around and trade up to redwood danmars from the dinky girly beaters they come with. they just have no hit, punch, attack, or balls to them at all. wood or heavier dw beaters are the ticket.
NOTE: these are my opinions from my perspective before you jump on my back about whatever you play. you are playing and thats all that matters to us. your gear is the best for you. some just need some guidence to choose the correct thing for them. keith

I use IC's and I too had an issue with the lite beaters. I replaced them with some heavier DWs I had sitting around, which completly changed the feel of my pedals. Now, I've been thinking about switching to 9000 DW, but to me they feel over-engineered (if that makes sense). In other words, they do all of the work, which takes away my feel-and I don't like that. On the opposite end of the drum pedal spectrum, I'm considering an old school Ludwig Speed King just to mess around with. There is no engineering in that pedal, so I'd probably get more feel than I bargained for. But, I find that as I get older, my set gets smaller and simpler, as does the hardware and other gadgets I like having on my kit.

I'm glad to hear you were surprised in a good way with your purchase. Talk to your pro drum shops, drummer friends and get some good advice here at Drummer Connection and then have enough guts to try something different. Good for you and everyone who was willing to help you one way or another. Fork's is a great drum shop.
