Hi Hat stand issues...HELP!

Ddrummer90 - Mon, 11/23/2009 - 13:04 | 7,680 views

My base plate on my hi hat stand pretty much kicked the bucket on me. I'm using a ddrum dominion series, 3 leg stand. There's a screw that attaches the base plate (of the pedal board) to the rest of the stand and is used to adjust the position of the pedal that popped out. It's in the back, right below my toe and the actual chain of the pedal. I used my drum key to tighten it and I tried hammering it in due to the entire housing cylinder coming out but no success. It still works 100%, just picking it up, the bottom is now quite flimsy. Any help is appreciated!

Yeah if you just get U shaped nails, you can probably put it around the bar thing on the bottom of the stand and nail it to a piece of wood.

I don't know how wood working and metal-shoppie you are, but my suggestion is this bro, with how flimsy that bottom part of your pedal has become, why not try and attach it to a new bass?
You would make a new wooden plate for the entire pedal to sit on and thus be able to attach it to so it has some sort of stability?
This is of course is all strictly temporary, but it would give some more stability until you can get a new high-hat stand, or new hardware to fix the problem.
So essentially, your high-hat pedal would sit on it's own wooden stand. (Keep in mind this will change the height at which your High-Hat will sit and rest, don't forget that part!!)
Which will mean, maybe a bit of adjustment during your playing, to get used to the new proximity of how far your foot has to push down, being the hat itself is now maybe a 1/4 of an inch raised up.

I don't know man, kinda stressed, I will send a better description of what I am trying to say if you didn't figure it out... Money problems... House problems gah...
Life sucks...

Thanks man! I did 5 levels of carpentry in tech school and some other side work here and there for summer cash so I'll hook it up for sure! I'll let you know how it goes in a week or 2
