Here's a once and a lifetime chance to own Dave Weckl's very first Yamaha Recording Custom kit! This kit is a very special item because it is Dave's first kit as a Yamaha endorser. Description for the kits ebay listing below:
This is DAVE WECKL's very first Yamaha kit as an endorser. This Recording Custom, natural wood finish kit was played on the ‘Simon and Garfunkel’ tour in the summer of 1983. See some pics from that tour below! This kit was also used on the very first studio recording of the ‘Chick Corea Akoustic Band’ in 1988, and many other recordings in NYC in the late 80’s early 90’s, Including all early Michel Camilo recordings.
Sizes – (depth of shell first) - 16x22 and 16x18 bass drums, 8x8, 8x10, 10x12 12X14, 13X15, 14x14 (with legs). There are many configurations possible with this kit! There is a matching 5.5x14 snare included.
There are finish inconsistencies with this kit. Dave played them that way, and never bothered to get them changed out to completely match. Four of the drums, the 8x10, 18” bass drum, 14x14 and 10x12 are GLOSSY finish, whereas the rest of the kit is natural, no gloss. (see photos) There are a few scuffs and scratches from years of use and touring (see photos). Drums have assorted heads on them now, as Dave last played them. You can specify to leave them as is, or have entire kit headed the way you want with new Remo heads.
Cases are included (see pics), some with Dave’s name on them, some with historic stickers of the past! (the large flight case is NOT included-fiber cases only!)
All hardware in photos is included!
Dave will be happy to meet and sign all shells personalized to the new owner! (This may delay delivery depending on Dave’s touring schedule. Drums are stored in North Hollywood, CA).
These drums are in very good condition and have spent most of there time stored in their cases, unmolested, for the past 20+ years!
Own this historic drum set! This is the first time they have ever been offered for sale!
Buyer is responsible for shipping costs, estimated to be $500-800, depending on distance. We can assist in helping to organize the shipping, which is a door to door service using Rockit Cargo, a shipping company Dave has used with his own band. Rockit Cargo takes care of transporting gear for many top musical artists and acts worldwide. This service is for non-local customers and will make the process of getting the drums to you a painless experience! This service applies in the U.S.A only.

That's a nice kit... I own one of his 13 x 7 snare drums that he played and signed. You can't get a cooler setup than this, owned by Weckl and played? C'mon jump on it.. if I had $10k starting bid, I would give it a run!
