Is it me or have people just gone totally nutz over Hybrid Rudiments. Ok, it's cool to a point, but I just saw this website http://www.gmajna.net/svojat/strudel/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/128hybridrudimentbook.pdf
And they have 128 different Hybrid rudiments. This may sound weird but I think there's a big difference between  "creation" and just making stuff up like  Flam Fivelet, and Inverted Triplet Pataflawflaws. C'mon MAN!!!

Yeah I honestly think people have gone overboard with the hybrid rudiments. All they consist of are all the basic rudiments, mixed with other basic rudiments. I guess the names are what they sound, but I don't think they should be listed as official rudiments in any way.

I'm kind of a basic 26 rudiment kind of guy.  The hybrid thing is not for me.

Although, now that I think of it, since I've been playing the original 26 in various combinations and permutations for years, perhaps I HAVE been into hybrids all this time!  Yay me!

I like the 26 rudiments, and I honestly don't look beyond them. I like them, and they can be used soo many ways!

2 words:

steve gadd. dude has built a huge dictionary of riffs based on just a few rudiments, gazillion permutations.

i probably only use a few, and not even that well, so going past the first 26 would just be over the top for me.

a few years back, i found something called 'the rudiment combinator' which shows different mix 'n match rudiment combinations. the author didn't give them names, but he certainly had some inventive mixes. the title is great, too--i don't think english was his first language, but 'combinator' made perfect sense to me!
