Yep, I was off a little bit... Also, this isn't YouTube, so don't be a dick. If you can't offer constructive criticism, then go back to YouTube or MySpace. We're here to help each other out and enjoy drumming, not beat young drummers up for having the balls to record their experiences let alone upload them to websites to share with the community.

I agree with you and we all practice with a click. What you're seeing in this video at the beginning is the end of another jam where we shifted from the click a little.
The point of drumming indeed is to keep time in most people's eyes. We all know that. The more important point is to have fun. Joe and I in this video have never jammed before this session and it was interesting to jam and he and I kind of skipped away from the click. This happens to every single musician I've "free jammed" with and the point is to find ourselves warbling on and off of the mighty click trail. I think this is happens when you start a click in the mix and the other guy tries to adapt his muscle memory (keyboard, guitars, etc) and try to follow a click playing riffs at different tempos then they aren use to. So naturally if they aren't focusing on the click and they start to riff away at something, the drummer should follow or join in my opinion. Live jamming is much different than jamming to your ipod or a recording. The timing shifts add character to the music for some while others it obviously annoys. We all want to have perfect timing and we all work on it. I'll get there some day, but meanwhile thanks for taking your time to comment!
I'll keep click-tracking away and hope that every musician I jam with stays on the click.. but if not, it's much funner to follow or join the other guy than playing robotic to the click 100% of the time.
