giomix Says Great setup

Submitted On: Thursday, Jan 13, 2011 - 2:56 PM

Bravo!
I'm a Paiste man too, they seem to have the most flexible tone colours for what I do.
Tiny hat, big Ride (22 2002 power ride here) nice. Enjoyed seeing a seasoned pro using odd size cymbals too. I thought I was the only nut that finds some of those 17" and 19" interesting in tone. Enjoyed the tour, maybe I'll muster up enough courage to tape a tour of my set (which I use mostly for jingle/sound tracks).
Again
Bravissimo!
Ciao
Gio

Submitted On: Thursday, Nov 11, 2010 - 12:05 PM

i have a new drum set with stock heads that im going to change in prob three months or so. im looking at putting evans on for the set. i have a 12 tom 16 floor tom, 24 inch bass and one 14" snare. i currently have all remo on my 8 pc set minus the kick drum. in which i have an emad 2. the best bass head out there. got any suggestions? ill put pictures of the new set up soon. its a yamaha stage custom four piece. im thinking about evans because the way your toms sound. i love it.

It really depends on what sound you're going for. If you like my toms, I use the clear G2's on top and clear G1's on the bottom. Good luck!

I love the Setup Billy! If I had to point one thing out it would have to be the toms. They sound so incredible.

You're right on the ride....very good! I LOVE this cymbal!! It's my favorite ride. As for $...I'm very lucky, I endorse Paiste :)

thats cool. i just bought a paiste 22" power ride. i love this thing

HenryTJO11 Says Your setup is quite similar

Submitted On: Friday, Jun 4, 2010 - 11:10 AM

Your setup is quite similar to the one I mainly use. Except I've had to compromise my setup to a 1 rack, 1 floor as most of the gigs my band plays, the other drummers use that style of setup. So it's just awkward to use the setup I mainly use. It would be awesome to get to jam with you on the other kit there.

visioncrys Says Very Nice !

Billy Great Setup !! So what makes you go with Paiste? Ive noticed a number of drummers that I have alot of respect for, including my favorite Danny Carey, that also use them. Your mic setup is sick as well.. Your not giving any sound a chance to escape are ya? lol

I noticed the same thing drumfreak, I have a couple of friends who are drummers ( one which has a studio ) and he does not have a mic under the snare. That is a great idea I think im gonna share with him.

I went with Paiste because I love there sound! I've played nothing else for the past 12 years. You just have to find a cymbal that fits your playing style.

drumfreak Says Killer!!

Submitted On: Wednesday, Oct 28, 2009 - 11:36 AM

Very nice Billy... I never knew you had a mic below the snare! I gotta come out there and poke around soon! We've been talking about it forever!

Thanks Eric. I don't use much of the bottom snare mic in my own mix. It's mainly for the sessions I do. Yeah...I need to have you over to check out my set up, it's been a while!
