This is a little "phrase" played mostly going into the next set of measures in a song. Drum Fills can be done in any form, whether it be some powerful single drum hits, or some blazing double-bass fills.

This is where you break away from the groove/rythm you're playing to place a sequence of notes around the kit.This is usually done around the Toms(though anything can be used)and commonly for 1 bar only,though the music will dictate this.Whatever the duration of the fill though,it must fit,in other words you need to make sure you end up on the downbeat of the measure in order to keep the flow as it were...hope this helps :-).
