Studio Delayed - Beware of this Insulation Company
If you live in or around Orlando, Kissimmee, St, Cloud Florida, and you are wanting to build your own studio with foam insulation, beware of who you deal with around here! Read more to find out about the recent delays in our studio build.
I expect delays, but the problems I had with this company has driven me to purchasing the spray foam insulation myself and just doing the job myself (yes, of course.. pictures will be uploaded).
The task was contracted to a company that promised me that they would be there on Monday morning, so we worked late nights and all weekend to have all of the wiring done and the job site ready to rock. Instead, Emerald Isle Interior Insulation out of Intercession City, FL failed to even show up for the job. What's worse is they didn't even bother to call. We called a few times and left voicemails and I took two days off out of the office to be here for the Foam Insulation. Needless to say the company has completely refused to return my calls and I'm shocked. Never once did I try to get a better deal, or lower their price. I took them for their word and scheduled the job.
Two days of trying to reach them left me to calling another company for a quote. Once the new company was on site, I gave them the low-down on what happened already and the sales rep I was speaking to knew the owner of the company who abandoned the job and called the sales rep at Emerald Isle. Within minutes, the lady who had been avoiding my calls for two days, called this gentleman up and explained they decided to work another job and just leave me hanging. Words were muttered between myself and the new sales rep.
Apparently this Emerald Isle Foam Insulation company has a really bad reputation and are notorious for pulling no-shows on job sites. It would have been nice to know about this before-hand, but we can't always get luck. Unfortunately, this new company only did Open Cell Foam whereas we were seeking Closed Cell foam, but the sales rep was kind enough to give me some referals. This article covers some solutions that are less of a hassle than dealing with inept companies who refuse to treat their customers with any kind of respect.
I ended up just ordering the stuff myself with these kits: Tiger Foam - Do-it-Yourself Kits. I spoke with Allison over there and she was very nice and very informative. I wanted to purchase more than I needed and she advised me of exactly what I needed and did not let me overspend. It is difficult to find good people that are willing to save you a buck, and this is one of them.
For now, the studio will remain a skeleton until we get the foam in, so approximately a week + delay thanks to Emerald Isle Interior Insulation out of Intercession City. Be careful if you try to deal with them!
I'll update more as things progress...
