Hello World and fellow drummers

I just came across the drummer connection web site. I think this site rocks. Although, I've only been a member of the connection now for a day. So far I like what I see and hear. Right now I don't own a drum set, so what I've been doing is pounding out the keys on my laptop. It's nothing like a real drum set but it gets the job done. I've had many drum sets and little electric drum pads over the years. As long as it can produce a sound, I'll bang the hell out of it. I've been drumming since I was in middle to high school at the age of thirteen or fourteen. That's when I became interested in playing the drums. The drums are my favorite musical instrument. Percussion is the heart of music. Without a rhythm there would be no music just a bunch of junk thrown together. I have played other instruments when I was a kid. I was taught to play the paino when I was seven years old. I stuck with the paino for quite some time until my middle school days which was around 1982. Then I started learning to play the violin. It keep my attention for acouple of years until I got borded with it. That's when I started messing around with the drums. I was taught piece by piece. First was the snare then came the hi hat, bass, symbols and toms. I didn't have the cordnation to play at first. It took quite a bit of time to learn how everything came together. I was horrable. Just like a white guy who couldn't keep a rhythm. lol
