Anybody own or have a chance to play with the new Yamaha Hex Rack system?
The horizontal rack bars cross sections are hex shaped (rather than round like Gibralter, or square like Pearl). And the mounts are designed on a swivel ball, like the old Slingerland tom mounts. They look like they add a ton of adjustability.

Nice design, and you got to give them credit for thinking of something different, but they are just not for me. I'm not a rack kinda guy anyway. most of the time I play a "Bonham" setup. But being that i have a 6 piece Mapex, I can broaden my horizons a bit.

I'v never had one, but I did catch it at the WINTER NAMM 2008, and it was a nice piece or hardware. Very durable, but not as adjustable as one would think.

Yeah, even if it was uber-adjustable from the mounts, I'm not sure I need all of that. I mean, once you position everything, how much more adjustment capability do you need? I've not had any issues with the Peal rack I use. Nevertheless, I do think the Yamaha is a nice design.
