Drums 2 go

kyle7863 - Wed, 12/31/2008 - 21:18 | 6,506 views

I had bought a pearl eliminator pedal from them before, and after about 2 days i returned it. They gave me a 20% restocking fee, which was 60 bucks. i had owned it for 2 days and returned it with original packaging and was just missing some wrapping plastic. Haven't shopped there since.
just goes to show ya that one wrong move could cost ya. because i would've spent well over a thousand dollars there already if this hadn't happened. i guess SamAsh gets it now.

I understand the restocking fee to a degree. I mean the store has to re-inventory it, clean it up, and make sure it's good to go before they can stick it back out on the floor. However, 20% is high, especially after 2 days of buying the pedal. If it were beat up, visible blemishes, then I would have charged you the restocking fee. If the pedal still looked new, and had all the stuff, I would have waived the fee and told you the next time you'll be charged.

Indeed returning stuff just sucks. Both for the buyer and the seller.  Damian is right, before dropping $400 on a set of pedals, you should try them out in the store. 2 days of Pearl Eliminator use isn't really enough to adjust to a special pedal like that.  They are very sensitive pedals with a huge adjustment range, and they demand respect and understanding of how they work, just like anything else you buy that isn't designed just for plug-n-play style use.

Yeah, after that experience i haven't needed to return anything to date. I just like that safety net, in case i make some impulse buy.
I guess thats what it comes down to.

In the future try to do some more research about purchase so you can make a more informed decision about what you buy. Returning stuff just sucks because you have to deal with the hustle and bussle of going to the store or mailing it back while you wait for a website to credit your account. If you can, see if that piece of gear you want is being displayed on a kit so you can play it first.
I recently ran into buyers remorse when purchasing a Zilbel, not that I don't like it...but it needs some adjusting so it doesn't ring out as much. It just doesn't give me a consistent sound I'm happy with yet.

Well no they didn't inform me, i was more annoyed that they called it a restocking fee, to weasel there way into money, instead of plainly saying that its a resale issue.
I just wish local stores would actually have a return policy. But that being the case, i often buy stuff and end up returning it, either because i found it not applicable or just not right for my situation. I just dont want to be charged for it everytime. Thats why i go to samash, they have a 30 day return policy, full refund.

That's one of the problems you run into when buying from local stores. Not to throw them under the bus because I think they have a GREAT thing going on at Drums 2 Go. BUT.....they need to have it clearly stated somewhere in their store or on the back of the receipt. These simple misunderstandings can cause a lot of problems between the store and it's customers. If they don't have it listed and you were NOT informed of that then you shouldn't have to pay the restocking fee. The reason they do that is because once it's been returned they can't sell it at full price, so the restocking fee helps them recoup their loss......not that it's right, but that's the biz. Most stores charge a restocking fee, but only for electronic merchandise. Sorry bro, at least you'll be prepared when you make your next purchase. Look on the bright side.... I've made a lot of mistakes that cost me more than $60 bucks  ;D
