I can relate to this. As I have said before drums are my therapy. when I first got a new set a few years ago I sat down and tried to play along with a few songs. I had lost my groove. Before I got that set it had been over 10 years of not playing. I was playing along with a few songs(which I can't really remember) but I just started crying. No I am not one to cry easily. I am a veteran, that has dealt with a bunch of rough shit in my life but that hour behind the set broke me down. one of the hardest things was having to sell that set to make my mortgage payment after a layoff. I am pushing 40, My dreams of being a rock star are over. Thats ok. I recently got a new Yamaha DTXpress IV. It's not all fancy but it gets the job done. I play for me. You will see the uploads that I have put up. They are not good by any stretch but like I said it is for me. Drumming is my cathartic release. I drum because I feel the rhythm of the world. so yes I get emotional.
