Ergonomic drumset configuration

drummer3934 - Thu, 02/11/2010 - 13:07 | 2,448 views

Hey all. I'm now to this community, but it seems like the perfect place to share my thoughts on drumming. Recently, I had major back surgery. When I returned to the kit, I quickly noticed that my current setup felt very uncomfortable. After much thought I changed my setup in a very ergonomic manner, which made playing more comfortable, and it took my playing to another level. In short, I moved my remote hihat to the 12 o'clock position in front of my snare. That hihat splits my rack toms and floor toms. Initially, I thought is would be challenging to move from high to low during fills, but I found that not to be the case. The new setup completely changed the way I play and made it much more enjoyable. I also mounted my ride on the base drum, so basically I can hit every drum and cymbal without moving my elbows away from my sides. It's been a cool experience. I'll post some pics later. Please share your thoughts on this.

OK. I added several pics, but I don't know where you can find them. I'll assume they went to the correct location.

Thank you for the compliments. I'm trying to upload some pics but seem to be having trouble. If I figure it out, the pics should be up soon.

Hey, i know there are no pictures avaliable yet but by the sounds of things, you need a good "well done". see, for me...if i were to completely change my set-up into positions that feel totally alien to me, i know id find it REALLY frustrating. It sounds like you have found a set up that really works for you. i look forward to seeing the pictures. keep rockin' dude.
