ive never used a drum dial and to be honest i dont think i will. There's something about the satisfaction you get when you sit at your kit and spend time tuning and fine tuning it again and again until you find exactly the tones you are after, then you sit back, start playing and just smile because the kit sounds beatiful and its all because of the drum sounds you have just created.
I think drum dials are similar to drum machines......largely un-neccessary. Technology should never replace what a human can do.

I have one at the mo purely just because I can't seem to get my heads right. Use it to get in rough area then fine tune them by ear. Experimenting with tensions, gonna try tuning them down sound bit too high for me. But as soon as I can tune by ear it probably won't get used again!

I don't use a dail although I would like to have one they are to me an unecessary evil.. I feel that drums should be tuned to the players like for sound and feel and I prefer to tune them(by pitch) the old fashon way!

I use the drum dial and I'm pretty satisfied with it. It helps with my OCD because I really like having a quantifiable number to equate to my tuning. Its easier to tune the drum up to about where you want it to be and then even it out with the drum dial. It's a neat little gadget.

I've wanted to, but it's a little pricey to find out I could do it better by ear.

The way I see it is that you need to know how to get your drums to a good sound BEFORE you use the Drum Dial. The list of tensions that they leave in the box aren't accurate for most drumsets ( or so my experience has led me to believe ). I vote good ear and drum key. I also vote going to a clinic or two and finding out how some other people approach tuning.
For quick swaps onstage and emergency tuning needs...I'd say go for it.

Don't use it...some music will need different tensions, and depending on the club or arena you are playing in, sounds will change. So key and ear here, as well./
