Hello :)
I’m looking to pick up some cymbals and haven’t purchased in a few years, what is a great cymbal for a great price out there right now. I’m looking for dark sounding cymbals to allow the sound tech to add in the highs as required.
anybody have any suggestions?

All of the cymbal manufacturers have models that will fit your taste. So I think it all boils down to budget. That said, my recommendations based on cymbals I've tried would be: Bosphorus Traditional or Master Series, K Zildjian Dark Medium series, Sabian Dave Weckl Evolution series, Meinl Benny Grebb Sand ride and Byzance series, and istanbul Mehmet Traditional Series. The first two being my first choices. I hope I helped more than hurt.

Try Velvet cymbals, they have some dark cymbals with a very cool look to them. You can check out some videos of them here: https://drummerconnection.com/interview/42686-sebastian-tworowski-interview

I play all Paiste signatures. They are great for live and recording and I play the thin to medium thin, mostly rock music. The signatures can be bright, however my 19" Dark energy crash is wonderful if you're looking for dark and musical. It's got such a great balance and it is expensive like all Paiste cymbals. One company that offers dark sounds and musical for a great price is Sabian. They are always competitive and high quality. They are all good in my opinion and speaking of Zildjian, Paiste, and Sabian, but Sabian's pricing is very fair if you cant afford Paiste. One thing I always recommend to drummers is try out all cymbals, but keep your set-up with the same brand you choose because they use the same alloy mixture and you can tell the difference from one cymbal to another, especially crashes and splashes. I can easily tell between Paiste and Sabian, but Zildjian and Sabian, very minute cause they use the same mixture, alloy .
