I want to be able to trigger for live shows, but I don't want to spend a lot of money on something like a roland spds pad. I really only need one or two pads and I was wondering if i could use Roland PD-8 Dual-Trigger Pads. If I can, would i have to buy a module (brain) to hook them up to or could I just hook them write into a laptop or something with a direct input to sample sounds?

The Roland PD-8 pads are pretty cheap too, only about $80-90 bucks each. Get them this month while they're on sale or ask Santa Claus to get them for ya!

You do need a brain/module - the pad is just a way of telling the module to play a note/sound. On it's own it's just a lump of rubber.
