A good way is to find Dom Famularos book "The Weaker Side" I think its called. He helps tremendously with open technique. I play the same style and I just take a song I know very well and try to play it righty, then lefty, back to back. If anything, take a basic snare book and apply the rudaments to your feet, keeping a steady 4/4 beat with your hands. I'll work on posting a video with some techniques I picked up over the years and see what else I can do for you!
