Saying Goodbye to the Wood Shed - Building My Studio

drumfreak's picture

Well tonight was my last night playing in the woodshed. I'm finally converting the 900 square foot workshop / wood shop that was on my house when I bought it. The old owner was a master craftsman and woodworker and he built this very cool workshop on his house. Vacuum systems, Air Compressors, saws, you name it, it was a wall-to-wall man room. I'm not much of a wood worker, and my days of doing shop style work are long over, so since I love music so much and we've got some beautiful drumsets here, we're going to make the official Drummer Connection studio. Of course this will be attached to my house, but the office studios are around 45 minutes away in Kissimmee. Regardless, when we want to make some serious noise with the acoustic sets, we can't do that in the office complex, even in their studios, because they are more geared for TV production than audio sound stages.

Demolition is under way after tonight. I had my TD-20 still setup with the iMac and that's the last thing in the soon to be studio. Here's a couple of clips of me screwing around tonight on the TD-20 before we break it down. Woodsheddin - 01 and Woodsheddin - 02 and Woodsheddin - 03

I'll update this article with some more pics and some plan layouts!!
