If you own an iPhone, you were probably as frustrated as I was when you realized you ditched you old iPod for this all-in-one wonder device and when you went to plug in your favorite headphones to realize that you need a special Headphone Adapter. The Belkin headphone adapter works for listening, but you don't have a way to speak because there's no microphone available. It's a pain when you're paradiddl'ng your way to stardom and a phone call comes in that you can't miss and you have to dis-com-bob-ulate (unhook) everything to take the call. It's probably embarrassing as well that you are shuffling around if you already answered the call -- this has happened to me at least 4 - 5 times. The solution for this has arrived!
Thanks to Shure, the iPhone problem for connectivity is now fixed. The Shure Music Phone Adapter for iPhone is the answer to the mess I described above. It has a built-in microphone where you plug your headphone in. It's sweet because you can be jamming away to some tunes and when the call comes in, it fades out your tunes and puts them on pause while you talk. Once you're done talking, you end the call and your music fades back in and you drum away. The fact the microphone is built into the cord means you do not have to disconnect or reconnect anything to take care of business in the middle of the Jam session. This is the answer.
You can use this with your in-ear monitors (as Shure intended), studio headphones or whatever, it is just a standard headphone jack on one end and the TTY adapter for the iPhone on the other.
You will also need a straight-through headphone extension cable (both male ends). You will also need a 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch adapter.
Here's how it all hooks together
Have Fun!
