Rare Vintage Duplex Snare Drum NOW ON EBAY

Hi All,

Just to give all you vintage drum enthusiasts a heads up i will be posting my vintage, rare Duplex Snare Drum on ebay within the week begining the 23rd, Feb 09. Briefly it's a 15" x 4" (approx) aluminium shell with wood hoops finnished with a rosewood overlay dating from around 1900-01. The history and detailed condition of this drum will be listed at the auction. There will be plenty of pictures and information available. I will post a link here as soon as it goes up.

The drum looks like it is missing a few tension rods, but I would still set the reserve much higher for such a drum. Do some more research, it might be worth more than you think!

well the snare head has been on for a very long time and if the batter head had been on the same length of time i wouldn't have thought it would have taken any kind of playing and turned itself into a museum piece only. This way at least it's playable now and thats what it was suppose to do after all.

Not bad for a 100yr old snare drum. I wonder what the original head was like?

I don't have a set figure in mind and as there is lots of interest across the other sites i've posted on it could go for anything. Like i say i'll set the reserve at the amount i paid for it and to get it up to this standard (about £140/$202)then we will just have to wait and see.

Oh and it's not a tunning key but the top of the thumbscrew snare strainer, but yeah it is a lovely drum
