those of us who have not read in some time, aahhhheeemmmm, need a good refresher. ive spent time charting songs for studio, but i would like to be able to site read again. any points and suggestions on this for us? i am able to look, figure something out, then play, but with everything i need more practice. i know this. maybe you guys have some trade secrets you figured out in the past to share or what an easier way to comprehend the tabs. sad thing is i teach and there are kids getting ready to drumline and i want to help them read better, but also for me to better understand when i walk into a studio and get handed sheet music, i wont have to chart it in my "laymans terms" to get through it. keith

I remember the days of painful drum notation reading. There are many instrucional books on the market that target Drum Corps and charts for session work and I'd be willing to be the folks here at DC may already have something up regarding this. Insofar as "charting" for studio work. Sometimes your "Layman's" chart may be the best. If you understand it, go with it! I chart things in my own manner (both drum and instrumentation) and no one seems to complain. Well, if they haven't met a "Road Map' before they get a little confused. lol.
